Rendering Times in Lumion 2023 with Ray Tracing - 2048 Samples
In this post, we would like to share with you the rendering times we achieved while working with Lumion 2023. It was an interesting experience to explore the capabilities of Lumion 2023 with Ray Tracing Effect and observe how different scenes influenced the rendering times.
In all these scenes, for the images, we used a consistent output configuration of Samples 2048 and Desktop (FullHD) resolution for all of them.
Also with the same Pc, Laptop Settings:
System Model: Asus TUF Gaming A17; Processor AMD Ryzen 7 6800H; Memory: 16 GB RAM; Graphics Card: GeForce RTX 3070Ti Mobile
Below are the rendering times for each image:
Image 1 - Scene Exterior 01: [6 min]
Image 2 - Scene Exterior 02: [2 hours]
Image 3 - Scene Exterior 03: [50 min]
Image 4 - Scene Exterior 04: [15 min]
Image 5 - Scene Exterior 05: [25 min]
Image 6 - Scene Exterior 06: [20 min]
Image 7 - Scene Exterior 07: [1 hour and 18 min]
Image 8 - Scene Exterior 08: [8 min]
Image 9 - Scene Interior 01: [18 min]
Image 10 - Scene Interior 02: [20 min]
Image 11 - Scene Interior 03: [23 min]
Image 12 - Scene Interior 04: [24 min]
Image 13 - Scene Interior 05: [18 min]
Image 14 - Scene Interior 06: [25 min]
Image 15 - Scene Interior 07: [18 min]
Image 16 - Scene Interior 08: [14min]
As expected that scenes with longer rendering times were the ones where we used complex blocks (mainly vegetation) multiple times. These elements require more processing power and, consequently, result in longer rendering times.
Video Rendering:
Now let's discuss the rendering times for our video (link below), which is a compilation of 6 clips from different rendered scenes. All of these clips were rendered with 512 samples, using the same output settings (image below the video):
Output:
Here are the rendering times for each clip:
Clip 01 - Exterior 01 - Duration: 4 seg : [4 hours]
Clip 02 - Interior 01 - Duration 2 seg : [2 hours]
Clip 03 - Interior 02 - Duration 2 seg: [2 hours]
Clip 04 - Interior 03 - Duration 2 seg : [2 hours]
Clip 05 - Interior 04 - Duration 1 seg: [50 min]
Clip 06 - Exterior 02 - Duration 5 seg: [6 hours]
In these cases as well, rendering times were affected by the complexity of the scenes and the number of times complex blocks were used, and of course the duration of the clip. Analyzing the clips, we can conclude that with the mentioned hardware and settings, each 1-second duration of a clip corresponds to 1 hour of rendering time.
By sharing the rendering times we achieved during our work in Lumion 2023, we hope to provide valuable insights to other Lumion 2023 users. These data help us gain a more accurate understanding of the time required to produce high-quality images and videos. With this, we can adjust our schedules, set realistic expectations, and optimize our workflow.
Please note that rendering times can vary depending on computer configuration, scene complexity, and project specifications. It is important to conduct tests and experiment with different settings to find the ideal balance between quality and rendering time.
We would also like to mention that based on these rendered scenes, we have pre-made effects available for sale. These effects can be a valuable resource to expedite your projects, set up your scenes, and achieve exceptional results.
